It is anticipated that the new products will be less expensive than existing systems, safer and less prone to failure in the field. Sierra Mat & Rubber intends to start by selling Sierra Safe Surface regionally, thereby establishing a regional dealer and distribution network, and to then expand sales nationally.

Task 3.5 Technical Assistance : Dalmarco was tasked to be the point person to ensure project completion, produced samples for about 40 tests for two products which costs thousands in shipping the material to multiple labs. BASF aided with advice in colorants and reporting on product performance related to weathering longevity. Task 3.5 Material Testing: Testing was performed by Intertek (York, Pennsylvania) for both products including shore hardness, surface burning characteristics, coefficient of friction, static load bearing and more. Intertek (Fresno) performed Solar Reflectance Index tests and Testing Services, Inc. performed TCLP Metals, UV Exposure, Semi volatiles, resistance to wear, compression and many more.
