candidate for FCS. It was 12 months later that this manufacturer declined to participate due to concerns for finding a sports field during the school year since fields are in full use during these times. Most field replacement projects occur during the period June-Aug, when schools are not in session. In late September, Shaw assured the team they would find a sports field for FCS. Shaw also became a grantee of the Tire Incentive Program (TIP5) based on completing an estimated 20 sports fields between February 2, 2018 and April 1, 2020. Shaw also experienced issues with finding a sports field once school had started. In fact, Shaw offered on two occasions to pay the schools to relocate the games that would be played on the sports fields in southern and northern California. An intercity school in Los Angeles became the field of choice. There are economic, environmental and social responsibility factors to be considered by the owners and responsible parties before making an Ed-of-Life (EOL) decision about the materials. It is important to some businesses to utilize sustainable materials and processes that work to minimize any negative impact on the natural environment. Matching donor surplus material with recipient needs, meets the objective of social responsibility. Utilizing the crumb rubber from a replacement field in the intermixed base layer is not only socially responsible but can save up to $20,000 to $25,000 from having to purchase aggregate and landfill or pay to dispose of the infill. Task 3.1 Technical Assistance: Technical services were provided by The Motz Corporation and Lloyd Consulting Group (dba Lloyd Engineering). The Motz Corporation, technical advisor and owner of the patented intermixed base layer system, has installed either typical sand/rubber fields over remediated gravel foundations in Indiana and Ohio. If a field has a pad or drain board, it would need to be removed and then replaced after base work. Lloyd Engineering, along with The Motz Corporation identified tests to be performed prior to, during and following the install of the intermixed base layer system. Task 3.1 Material Testing Services: Lab tests were performed by Sports Labs USA and Testing Services, Inc. Sports Labs USA was responsible for testing 6 – 8 locations on the field prior to, during and following the install of the intermixed base layer for a total of 46 tests. Additional tests include CA Title 22 Metals (CAM-17), ASTM F1551 (Double Ring Drainage) and various surface tests. Testing Services, Inc. is responsible for testing TCLP Metals +Zinc, degradation, abrasion, durometer hardness, compression and infiltration rate of soils in field.

Task 3.1 Budget : See Table 2.
